Job Description

The O&P Fabrication Specialist builds and customizes orthotic and prosthetic devices that restore mobility and improve lives, ensuring each product delivers the highest level of fit, function, and craftsmanship. This role requires hands-on skill, attention to detail, and familiarity with fabrication materials, tools, and techniques.

People enter the O&P field from diverse backgrounds—manufacturing, automotive, engineering, military, the arts, and other trades—often drawn by their creativity, problem-solving ability, and desire to help others. Competency:

  • Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to specifications.
  • Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.

Performance Objectives:

  • Perform fabrication, modification, and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices according to Company quality and quantity standards.
  • Adhere to detailed instructions from certified practitioners and fabrication leadership
  • Work with a team to ensure deadlines and quality standards.
  • Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
  • Use hand and power tools, as well as industry-specific equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
  • Perform other related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry-level applicants must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Experienced technicians must possess proven skills in fabrication.

Additional skills we are looking for:

  • Proactive meticulous and ensure accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment must be established
  • Should be receptive to constructive criticism and able to follow leadership direction closely.
  • ABC approved technical training a plus
  • Experience working within O&P environments or related trade industries that include but are not limited to: machinery, carpentry, design, fabrication, sewing, etc.

Experience and Education

  • Preferred: 1 year of related experience working within environments that include: machinery, carpentry, design, fabrication, sewing, etc. –OR-
  • Without diploma/GED, two years’ experience working within O&P environments or related trade industries that include but are not limited to: machinery, carpentry, design, fabrication, sewing, etc.

Physical requirements:

  • Bending over, stooping, kneeling, standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Lifting 50 pounds
